Call to speak with an attorney today!
Attorney Valerie Hein, outside of her father's law office, in Dothan, AL.
On March 7, 2017, Vernon Hein, Valerie's father, fulfilled a lifelong dream. Vernon opened his law firm, The Hein Law Firm, just down the street from their small southern courthouse, in an old historic home in Dothan, AL, which he'd renovated to resemble that of an old time-y courtroom, the sort that may make you think of Perry Mason - because that was Vernon's inspiration for his law office.
Vernon wasn't your typical new attorney. He'd already been a pilot for forty years, owned an air charter company, run for office, opened a ballroom dancing studio, and built an airplane in his living room. He'd also been a father for almost 30 years, a grandfather 5 times over, and had an incredible impact on his community. But at 53 years old, he decided he just wasn't done, and he went back to school to be an attorney.
On May 9, 2017, just two months after opening his perfect new office, Vernon suffered a heart attack while out for his morning run, and he passed away suddenly. The phrase uttered to Valerie by Vernon's colleagues and friends more than anything else after his passing was, and continues to be,
"Your dad was a good man."
In the years since her father's death, Valerie has continued practicing law, considering how she can honor her father's memory, and works diligently to carry on his legacy.
On August 15, 2020, The Hein Law Firm (the second edition), was born, in Concord, North Carolina, in another historic building, just down the street from another small southern courthouse.
Valerie has chosen to honor her father's legacy by carrying on his firm name, and doing her best to create a reputation as an attorney and a firm that will help the people and the families of her community, and always put her clients' needs first.
Valerie grew up in Dothan, Alabama, and later lived in Baton Rouge, LA; Boaz, AL; Birmingham, AL, and finally Charlotte, NC. She played softball in college, before becoming involved with her college Mock Trial team, where her passion for litigation began to develop. Valerie was awarded the top attorney award at a National American Mock Trial Association competition, and several Regional Best Attorney awards. During law school, Valerie completed an internship at The Cochran Firm, competed in National Trial competitions, and completed an Internship with a District Court Judge; and she graduated from Charlotte School of Law in 2012. Valerie has practiced Family Law, Criminal Defense, and Estate Planning for her entire career. In 2019, Valerie earned the distinction as a Top 40 Under 40 Trial Lawyer by The National Trial Lawyers.
Valerie has dedicated her career to helping people and families navigate the legal system. Her unique perspective comes from her personal experiences on every side of divorce. Valerie grew up with divorced parents, and had two step-parents. She has also been married, become a step-parent, and been through a divorce. Having these personal experiences helps her to empathize with her clients, while maintaining her professional perspective on the likely outcomes based on a legal analysis of their case.
Valerie has three daughters, Julia, Kaydence, and Maryetta. In addition to running around with her kids, she has run several half-marathons, and completed her first full marathon in 2019 at Disney World.
